Snow!

Joshua Hubbell February 1, 2021

I’ve mentioned before that cloudy days are great because the clouds act as giant diffusers that soften the light. The only catch is that those tend to turn into better black and white photos due to how the cloudy days mute all the colors. Well throw some snow on those cloudy days and not only do you have the giant diffuser, but you also have a giant reflector all over the ground which brings the colors back in. Exploit this time and just use your standard photography guides and rules to really get some decent photos.

Keep in mind that when the clouds clear up and the snow remains, the white snow reflects the blue sky, and you might have to do a little color correction.
